The much-loved star of Australian seasons of Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, Rob Guest, passed away Wednesday night.

Guest, who had been appearing as the Wizard in the Melbourne production of Wicked, was in intensive care at St Vincent's hospital after suffering a massive stroke on Tuesday night.

Walter Plinge

This is so devastating. I only saw him perform on Saturday night and he was great as usual. I've seen Wicked so many times I don't know what it will be like without him as the wizard, he seems irreplaceable. He was such a light on that stage and the cast must be absolutely shattered. I hope they and his family/friends find a way through this tragedy.
