Reb Cribb's "The Return" (aka Last Train to Freo) An abridged version.
Directed by Dannielle Ashton
A tense psychological drama as two thugs confront and harass other passengers as a train travels to Fremantle – with many twists and turns along the way.
"SMS Mess" Written and Directed by Chris Thomas
Julia Dalby stars in this one-woman show, exploring the troubles of texting and the perils of technology. Direct from its premiere @ PICA's "Putting on an Act Festival"
"Free Coffee for the Driver" Written and Directed by Stephan Jean De Jonghe
One waitress, two suspicious travellers and a remote roadhouse. How bad could it get?

Aw shucks Julia
Thu, 28 Aug 2008, 08:51 pmThanks for that. It will sound like mutual back-slapping but Julia is superb in her show which is coincidentally penned by Chris Thomas who plays The Writer in The Return. Very well observed and well written piece performed by an excellent performer - you'd be nuts to miss it.
Danni has worked us all very hard in The Return and refuses to accept second best. We're all very proud to have been part of it and she has had a very clear vision for the piece from the start and she and Felicity have held very true to it.
Hats off to Phil Barnett who not only scares the willies out of you with his performance as Steve but has assisted in set building, acquisition of set items and also does sound or lighting (I forget which) for Julia and Chris in SMS Mess.
Watch also for Krysia Wiechecki as Lisa in The Return evoking both strength and vulnerability in a very challenging part.
Jacqui Warner and Chris Thomas bring their vast stage experience to the roles of Maureen and The Writer in polished and professional performances. Thanks also to Rob Warner for his great humour and just all-round "niceguyness" as our stage manager. It may only be a one act but it's been a highlight for me personally in my time in theatre and I thank both Danni and the cast and crew for the opportunity and their deference to my funny little ways during rehearsal.
We shouldn't forget "Free Coffee For The Driver" which rounds out the trio of one acts written and directed by Stephan De Jonghe. It features experienced actors in Graham Miles and Joy Northover and if I say more I threaten to ruin the plot as it unfolds.
Yes, I know it's the height of conceipt to respond to a "warm fuzzy" but I'm tall and conceited and happy with that and anyway, Julia is bloody good - I'm not fibbing.
Come and see the KADS one acts - excellent entertainment, great line-up, award winning actors and directors, what more could you want.
