It is with deep sadness I write to inform all that George Dickinson passed away early this morning. George died at Bethesda Hospice (WA), he fell victim to and was highly medicated for brain cancer.

Although George hasn't trod the boards for several years, so many of us will remember George - an exceptional actor, an outstanding director, three times winner of the ITA Finley Award for Best Production with Extremeties (Garrick 1987), The Dresser (Marloo 1988), Agnes of God (Garrick 1990).

Sympathies to George's partner - Murray, Family, Norma and close friends.
Funeral/Service is yet to be announced (I will post this news as it comes to hand).

Until I recently learnt about George's condition, I was hoping to oneday convince George to produce another play at the Garrick - a comeback!! ... well - he's upstairs directing everyone there now.

George Dickinson was well known throughout WA theatres, having performed and directed at a lot of them including Garrick, Marloo, Wanneroo and more. I remember one of my first auditions was for one of his plays and it felt like the whole of Perth was there...everyone wanted to be in his show. To this day, I don't think I've seen another audition that has been so highly attended.  Will miss you George, but won't be forgotten.

If you have a fond moment of George please submit your story to this thread.
