TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD - NSW (play)
Wed, 13 June 2007, 08:39 amCampbelltown Theatre Group Inc presents
To Kill A Mockingbird (the play)
from page to the stage
Based on the Pulitzer Novel of the same name, playwright Christopher Sergel and Harper Lee transport the audience into a time of racist struggle and conservative values.
Set in Alabama in 1935 during the Great Depression, the play is lived through the eyes of Atticus Finch’s children, Scout and Jem.
The layers of sub-plots to the story draw the audience into the drama and lives of the town folk of Maycomb County. It is a rich yet simple story where justice is never black and white.

I really enjoyed the show. The sets were great and there were a few stand out performances. Notably that of the young woman breaking down in court and the character of Miss Stephanie was a delight to watch as well. But i think the director needed to spend some more time with some other lesser roles. Also, sometimes the accents were a bit funny... more work could have gone into that as well. But overall it was a really tight production and one of the best plays i have seen in non-professional theatre in a long time.. Great job guys
