Arts Hub Australia
Fri, 29 Dec 2006, 09:02 amJust wondering what people's experiences are as members of Arts Hub Australia (www.artshub.com.au). I'm considering joining up for one year as I am on the look out for marketing jobs in the arts (Western Australia). Interested to know if it's worthwhile. Any comments appreciated.
I'm somewhat biased
Fri, 29 Dec 2006, 04:59 pmI'm somewhat biased (longtime member, but also a previous employee).
Arts Hub is very good for finding jobs, though for theatre work there is mainly fringe/co-op positions advertised. There are always more tech/admin jobs advertised than auditions (for auditions, I would sign up with QuietonSet), and every single big arts organisation will post their jobs at Arts Hub rather than anywhere else.
For news, they are good, but if you don't like getting a lot of news bulletins (three times per week for their news, plus you have the option of a daily bulletin), then it's a little much.
It's definitely worthwhile. I've researched a lot of arts/theatre publications, and Arts Hub would be one of the top three publications I'd recommend.
(I had this opinion before I started working for them by the way. If you'd like some proof, search this site. I'm sure I've recommended them before).
I should point out that there's little point putting your CV/profile online. I doubt anyone uses the search function often; but the jobs advertised are often exclusively given to Arts Hub to advertise.
