Soph, is doing the MT cert at waapa and also goes to Vogue Entertainment Aust.
I know she has been dancing in Adelaide all her life but come to Perth this year. Obviously she wants a career in MT but is best at dance.
I reckon if you want to be a dancer you have to start young cos its very difficult to pick up later, that is of course if you want to be professional. Anyone at any age can learn to dance well, but I think if you start when your small its better.
There are excellent dance schools in Perth, John Cleary, Jodies etc
Alex (male) who is in the 1st year BA MT at waapa is also from Adelaide and lol Soph and Alex competed against each other all the time in dance comps since they were little kids in SA and I remember they were the only 2 competitors in the Theatrical Championship.
Dance/song and dance got them into WAAPA neither have been real professional with singing but they can sing well but dance comps is great for those who want to go further in that field.
Perth offers much more than Adelaide.
If you start at a dance school and thats what you want to be you can audition for other places interstate like Brent Street, VCA, DW301, Dance Factory. I think a competitive school teaches you the discipline and confidence you need to get into the other places.
