Now two weeks after the event my head clean shaven and the dust has finally settled. It is the morning after the debrief get together from the show and the DVD copies are slowly cooling from bieng printed. How am I actually feeling now? Hahaaha extremely postive and content. My new relationship is bringing me much joy. But let me first backtrack "The show" yes let me just summarise the show. Considering that the Dockers were playing and Perth was all hyped up about the game, "hottest ticket in Perth, anyone who is anyone is there" The show did extremely well. I got more audience than I expected but less than I had hoped for. That said those who came were incredibly supportive and enthusiastically made more noise than an audience three times thier size. The performers felt immensely appreciated as we did not pause for applause or exposition between acts. So when the audience applauded it was heartfelt. Which they did for every act that alone was unexpected. The pace overall was frenetic and all the acts were two and a half minutes to three minutes long There was 21 individual acts in an hour and fourty five minutes and that included a fifteen minute interval. The 21 acts did not include the two mimes one of whom was 8 months pregnant they performed in between acts and all the acts were linked to the performers favorite music that they wanted to perform to. The sound track of the evening alone was worth coming for. All around it was a great success. I do have the "How do we follow that" jitters, but from all the performers enthusiasm to do the next show I feel that will soon pass. Wow what a show! I personally felt I was not up to par on the night but all things considered about how I felt before the show I did extremely well. I felt like the host of my own birthday party so concerned that everyone else was having a wonderful time I could not relax and enjoy the evening myself. Hahaaha! Sorry the show, Yes! The show itself was amazing it started on such a high and just kept getting higher. All the ideas worked perfectly and there was a high spontanious element to the evening. All the acts seemed fully appreciated by the audience even the really bizarre ones, the performers rose to the challenge and then started bouncing off each other so that the audience started bouncing off them. The show ended at just the right time and everyone left with something they loved to talk about, performers included. It really was all just the right mix that found the right fertile ground. Really what a buzz for both my daughter and me, two weeks later we are still talking about it. Planning time is now about to begin the ideas are beginning to flow and soon the auditions will be held. The company will move onto the next project "All things Wonderland" The premise being that the Nov'el group of performers want to celerbrate the 100 year anniversary of the first performance of Alice in Wonderland. But really "Stuff Alice" who wants to watch a snotty nosed white chick? Nov'el Cabaret Carnaval wants to celebrate 100 years of the amazing and bizarre residents of Wonderland! We would like to present for you our favorite few charecters and how we think they are or should of been. The idea alone has kept us laughing for days. The music that the performers choose to perform to alone should be awesome! So much work to do so little time. So if you want to come or are interested in auditioning we will be posting the details in the very soon. The next show will be on a Saturday in July.
