Stage Manager / Technician / Film Crew Job Wanted

I am from the UK and will be coming to Australia in January / February 2006 for a year, on a working holiday visa.
I work in film and theatre and would really like to do more while I'm in Oz - want to travel but don't want to give up film & theatre!
Have worked in theatre as Stage manager / DSM / ASM / Lighting designer + operator / Sound designer + operator / AV operator / Carpenter / general technician
Work in film includes 1st AD / Script Supervisor / Production Assistant / Production Co-ordinator / Producer
Have also produced + directed, been musical director / choreographer for amateur theatre and have various roles on student films.
At the moment I enjoy all aspects of production and would be happy to work in any of the above areas. I've done touring and been both visiting and in-house staff.

Fri, 14 Oct 2005, 08:58 amActually, it's probably a better idea to work out where you're going first. Melbourne has a lot of fringe (ie. profit share) work, but Sydney has more paid work (but there's more people there trying to get it). I don't know what the other cities are like.
You should try Arts Hub UK and AUS (Arts Hub run two sites, and they can transfer your membership to AUS when you come over), as they post most of the theatre jobs on their sites. www.artshub.co.uk, www.artshub.com.au.
It's hard trying to get work even if you leave in Aus, so knowing where you will be when you come will help - there are people around the country more than willing to take up a good techie, but they probably won't be interested for long if you can't say where you'll be.
