Re: Technical Jobs
Technical jobs, like acting ones, aren't really advertised - and there are no agents for techies. Go to production companies, theatre companies, lighting and sound hire companies, and ask to do work experience with them or try to get casual work with them. Even volunteer for festivals and stuff. Make some contacts. Try to get some work, even with fringe or co-op profit share groups (but make sure you trust these fringe groups, some may work by taking advantage of you). Also, try doing some courses - certificates - in production areas.
ALIA, the Australian Lighting Industry Association, regularly posts jobs on their site, as well as having links to all the major companies in Australia (www.alia.com.au). Arts Hub lists jobs in all fields of arts, but you need a paid membership to see them.
I run a free weekly newsletter for theatre workers (with mainly Melbourne info, but some on my mailing list are from interstate and they still find it useful) via email and if you are interested in receiving it, please email me. Tech jobs are hard to find unless you know where to look!
Good luck

Re: Technical Jobs
Hi Tara,
If you're interested in the newsletter, could you please email me requesting it? Due to the new spam laws, I can no longer send out the newsletter without having written permission. Try checking out www.alia.com.au, the australian lighting industry association's web site. They have a lot of good links and an employment page.
Good luck,
Na

Re: Technical/stage jobs
Howdy folks,
My name is Skye Marsh. I am looking for work in the audio, lighting or staging. I have a diploma in technical production and plenty of experience on and around the stage environment. If anyone out there knows of any work in Brisbane going, please drop us a line.
Cheers
Skyza
