Lighting Training Expo

1:30pm - 4:30pm Sunday 12th September
ALIA, the Australasian Lighting Industry Association, is an organisation formed by and for people with a passion for the art, science and technology of light. ALIA's first Lighting Training Expo is to be held in the Seminar Room, at the Victorian College of the Arts, 234 St Kilda Road, Southbank, on Sunday 12th September from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Entry is free and open to all.
The objective of this expo is to bring together information on the entire spectrum of lighting training opportunities that are currently available. Training courses represented in the Expo range from short courses in rigging and electrical safety testing for those already engaged in lighting at either a professional or personal interest level, through to full-time vocational courses and traineeships at certificate, diploma and degree levels.
Representatives from a wide array of training providers will be present, to offer information and advice about their courses. They include, the Victorian College of the Arts, the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA - Sydney), the Western Australian Academy of performing Arts (WAAPA - Perth), the Helpmann Academy (Adelaide), Ballarat University, ShowTech Rigging, Julius Media, Box Hill Institute of TAFE, Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE, RMIT, and several other TAFE institutes.
Highly experienced and prominent practitioners from all areas of lighting will also be at the ALIA information booth, to provide information about lighting as an interest, a career and a vocation.
As with all ALIA lighting Expos, this event will also be appearing in other centres around the country in the following months.
