theatre comms
Wed, 1 Sept 2004, 11:12 amHi People,
After many years of faithful service, our headsets are starting to give out. Despite desperate searching, we dont seem to be able to find reasonably priced replacements.
they are the belt clip-on, headset, press to talk type, fm narrow band and used by a lot of Community Theatres.
If anybody can help we at Melville would be very grateful

Re: VHF theatre comms
Hello Stuart
If you are refering to the Tandy headsets they have been discontinued long ago. Tandy Australia were bought out by Dick Smith who were bought out by Woolworths long ago.
Dick Smith had a Digitor VHF transceiver and one model with channel switching shared common frequencies with the Tandy units.
For s modern replacement, look at the UHF transceivers that are being offered in the letter box junk mail handouts as you will find pairs being offered for under $100 with accessories included.
Choose carefully as they offer low (0.5W) to high power (1.5W). simplex and duplex (two way simultaneous voice), press to talk, voice activated (VOX), rechargeable batteries etc.
There are a lot of the Tandy units out there still so you may find secondhand replacements in schools etc.
