AusStage Theatre Database

I just found this website via an ABC news story:

http://www.ausstage.edu.au

It is a database of all theatrical works performed in Australia - at the moment, only recent shows, but they are intending to expand it to cover as much as possible. This site has only just been launched and hence the info is not all there yet.

However, I was surprised at how many of the shows I've been in are listed, so you might be too.

It doesn't appear to be possible to submit/correct info just yet but I'm sure that will be along soon.

However, considering the vast resources of existing shows from this website - surely this information could be passed onto AusStage as the entire database? Unless, of course, Grant, you're already way ahead of me and have done so :)

AusStage is a very interesting project. It's actually been around for a few years now but I gather it's finally out of the pilot stage.

There is a form for adding/correcting information but you'd have to start each event from scratch - there doesn't seem to be a way of editing existing events - at least without a login.

Wish I was! I did speak with some staff from the National Library a few years back who mentioned AusStage. At that stage AusStage was still very much under development but had a half dozen or so staff working part time on adding details.

I've written to AusStage offering access to the detail here.

Cheers
Grant
