Hiya all,
I've got severe creativity block and am hoping someone could help me out a wee bit.
As an Arts Manager wannabe I want to gain as much experience in the organisational side of theatre as possible before doing the degree. I have alot of motivation but am stumped at the best way to approach theatre companies as I have very little experience!?!?! Can anyone help me out with suggestions or advice?
cheers, Kirsty

I'd suggest going to a Community/Local Theatre company, and ask if you could asssist as part of the crew on their current production. They are always willing to have people help out in any way. That way you can check out different departments as well. Make sure you speak with the stage manager, because they will probably have more advice to give you about this sort of stuff.

Pretty much all you can do is to ask, they can only say no. But in this area of amateur theatre, there is little chance of that. You never know if professional companies will accept you, but I reckon they would give you a shot, if they see that you're really serious and you want to study it.

Hope this helps a bit.
Jess.
