Re: Full-time training in Technical Production

Hi Mel
Good luck with your endeavours - If I was to give any tips. Firstly I assume you wish to go to WAPA or some other accademy?
!. never forget the bums on seats
2. Never get boxed in - think outside of set and always perform safe sets.
Usually you are required to do a pre-requiste project for the course. If so select your play and read it cover to cover - then let it incubate for a few days or weeks - Then read it again while imagining how it would be staged and blocked {stged movements by the warm props {actors} Look at it from the Bums on seats {audiance} piont of view and acceptance. Be as innovatetive as you can within reason and mindfull of your resources. Dream about it and then put down on paper in pencil {easier to change} if you have the script even better to pencil that up. Do what you are required Lighting, set design or what ever - but always facilitate other departments and keep them in mind or be able to give them the ideas concerning your section. Remember we are each an element of the sum total, a wheel if you like and each element are the spokes driven by a hub and held together by a rim. If you can let me know where you are {what state} and what you want tyo do I would only be too happy to help.

Re: Full-time training in Technical Production

Hello
Thanks heaps for everything already, I have applied for the VCA, NIDA and Ballarat Uni, I was a fraction late for WAAPA, but if I don't get in anywhere, I will apply there as well next year! I am from Victoria, and just finishing year 12. I have worked on a lot of shows in different areas, and I love it! Anyway, thanks heaps again!
From Mel!
