Anybody help a poor struggling theatre company. We're still using some ancient lights though we have bought new control equipment. We have two strand pattern 23 without lens. Anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy a couple?

Strand Electric was Rank Strand Australia which eventually ended up being represented by Bytecraft - see ALIA lighting links. They may cost you about $60 if new. There was an auction in Sydney recently and a lot of old Strand lights were sold off very cheap. You can fit gy9.5 lamp bases into the old Strand lights to give them a new lease of life. It's only worth it for Patt 23 and Patt 123 as they are still usefull.
Unless you want to focus the Patt 23 for a doorway or gobo, you can run them without lenses, just put a pice of light frost in with the colour gel.

I'm sure you already know - but just in case, I forgot to mention with the biscuit tin batten - If the tins have an insert lid, you can mount the B C or E S lamp holder to the lid, after cutting the base out and this makes replacing globes easier, so long as the lid is scewed or secured safely. - We had an effect Cyc Batten for years, made like this.

Also if you come across any Strand 45's - you can use a mirror finished reflective material, with caution even a mirror adheared to the acess door at the rear and your 45 has a new work life. But Iam sure you have been there before and lost the T shirt for it
