Free - lighting and pyrotechnics!!!!!
Mon, 4 Mar 2002, 11:35 amLighting and Pyrotechnics interest you?
Mr. Dave Ferguson is in town at the moment for the DramaWest Expo on Saturday ( see notice in Whats on!). Mr. Ferguson is a world expert on lighting , having designed the fergos and much of the lighting for the Sydney Olympics.
On Monday night 11th March, Mr. Ferguson will be at St. Norbert College - 135 Treasure road, Queens Park in the theatre there ( the Xanten Centre) and would love to talk to people about lighting in general, the latest innovations, demonstrate some latest products and also teach us about many new innovative things that we can do with our existing lights and boards. Pro Design have also graciously said that they will demo some pyrotechnic effects that can be used to great effect.
All of this , will be free to you!
We would love to see the lighting enthusiasts from all companies coming along to take advantage of this great offer.
If you are intending to come along , could you please email me and tell me. ( just highlight the name up the top of this post). That way we will know how many people we need to seat etc.
A fantastic opportunity that should nt be missed. Find out how you can possibly extend the range of lighting possibilities in your own theatres.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Kerri

Being able to have Dave Ferguson explain the concepts behind additive stage mixing with fergo's, moving lights and stage lights has certainly opened up a whole new new ball game. The sixteen Pacifics at St Mary's will all be projecting fergo's for this years GangShow and I will hapilly hire in sixteen profiles to go foh to replace them, as the possibilities the fergo's present will enhance the show. Providing there is a suitable medium to project them onto such as scrims, cycs, smoke, floors , they can replace scenery.
Dave showed MacLuxPro to us, which is used by the top lighting designers in Australia and the world. It is only US$350 but is better than the pc software that is many times its price.
Well worth attending the two sessions as Dave talked about different design ideas at the two sessions.
