The Community Cultural Development Board (CCDB) of the Australia Council would like to draw your attention to the 15 September 2001 closing date for project applications in the following categories;

* Skills and Arts Development: Individuals and Organisations
* New Work
* Presentation & Promotion

It is to the category Skills and Arts Development: Individuals that the Board hopes to increase the quantity and quality of applications.

Over the past few years the CCDB has noted strong interest in Young & Emerging, New Worker Internship and Professional Development initiatives. These initiatives have been successful in providing quality professional development to CCD Artsworkers which is of benefit to both the applicant and the field including;

Exchange of knowledge between generations and sectors of CCD workers Developing a national overview of CCD practice
Supporting leadership in CCD
At the same time the Board encourages professional development activities similar to the above initiatives through its Skills and Arts Development - Individuals Grant Category. Applications to this category need to;

Clearly articulate a professional development benefit to the applicant and a wider benefit to the CCD field through an increase in skills and knowledge in CCD practice
Demonstrate that the applicant has some experience in CCD practice and a commitment to applying new skills and knowledge developed as a result of their program back to this area of arts practice
Provide letters of acceptance or invitations from relevant organisations or institutions in Australia or overseas where the applicant is proposing a period of observation, secondment or residency with such organisations.

Eligible programs for professional development include mentoring,
residencies, secondments with relevant organisations, or a series of activities. A project may span up to 6 months.

CCD Artsworkers interested in individual professional development are strongly encouraged to discuss their application with program staff before submitting. Please contact Cate Furey direct on 02 9215 9036 or toll free on
1800 226 912 or email c.furey@ozco.gov.au or any other program staff member at the CCDB.
