visual effects projector or CD rom?

I'm up on the sunshine coast getting together with a group of other professionals - I've written two new pieces and need some basic advise on the way to go for some imagery backstage on screen - do I go via computer graphics and make a collage of photos on a program and run through some hardware and project it onto screen or do I go via high 8 film or keep it simple with a series of slides???
any help and dialogue would be appreciated I'd love to use my photoshop program and then copy changes in images in an animation program then projec the flow of images onto screen, fits in with the play.
HELP ideas and I can do the rest
