Authentic looking newspapers needed
Tue, 19 June 2001, 10:03 pmI'm looking for a way to reproduce authentic looking Englsh newspapers of the 1950's for "Look Back in Anger" at KADS. Does anyone have an idea where I might find some images of papers of the time and how to reproduce them realistically? The actors will be very close to the the audience so anything wrong will be glaringly obvious. Please let me know if you have some brilliant ideas !!

RE: Authentic looking newspapers needed
Have you tried searching the internet for any 'old newspaper' sites? I was able to find a site that had jpg images of American money for 'Lost in Yonkers', and they had a complete set of all American currencies used, historical and current ones!

There is a company in Melbourne (I think!) who have copies of lots of old newspapers which you can buy and reprint for your own purposes (I believe so anyway). The information is a little hazy I know.
I'm currently working on "Shout!" on props, and we have some newspapers from the 50s. I have the details in my props bible which I will look up. If you are still interested I will find out.

Sounds just what I need. If you do find the details I would appreciate it. Just post them here.

yeah, if you can get onto a computer you can use photoshop or jasco paint shop pro 7 and dummy up one. so long as you have something that gives you guidelines on how they used to look so check out a library site in USA or here. if you do it on one of these programs you can fake it and get it printed by taking the disc to a printer desktop guy
