RE: Public Liability Insurance
Class Act uses GIO General Ltd. (contact Tony Brian). It costs us $200 to $300 a year - so it should be a lot less for a shorter period.

RE: Public Liability Insurance
Dear Kyla,
The ITA offers an Insurance service for their members via the Assn of Community Theatres in NSW .
It offers Voluntary Workers and Puiblic Liability Insurance for soewhere around $300/annually. As I am writing this from home I don't have the actual cost to hand. The scheme does not cover paid personnel so perhaps this is not suitable for you.
However if you would like details e-mail me with an address and i will send them to you. davisrn@cygnus.uwa.edu.au

Norma,
I am interested in setting up a professional theatre company (small community projects only, TIE etc) and was wondering if the insurance through ITA would be suitable. Could you send me details?
Thanks

RE: Public Liability Insurance
Hi Naomi,
Sorry but professional companies are ineligible for the type of insurance that we are able to offer, its strictly for amateur companies.
In the case of professional companies there are all kinds of things such as workers comps and God alone knows what else to be contended with.
You could try AON and see what they say, branches in all states.

RE: Public Liability Insurance
Hi Naomi
We had a fruitful discussion on this topic recently (See Greenroom - Insurance hell etc) and Craig gave us this great tip:
ABOUT DUCK FOR COVER
Duck For Cover Entertainers Group Inc. is a non profit association (with a volunteer committee) who's purpose is to provide low cost public liability insurance for performers and entertainers by negotiating with insurance brokers for the best price/cover we can get. The committee is based in Melbourne and its six volunteers administer the Association and negotiate with insurance brokers to get the best deal for the members every year.

It's a complex and often expensive thing to sort out, but very worthwhile.
Good luck
Tina
