Mon, 5 Feb 2001, 09:42 amThis is a very nice web site...
It would be great if i lived in WA... But I dont...
Does anyone know if there's a melbourne equivalent?
Or maybe if there's other melbourne users out there we could unite or form a clique or something, i dont know.
And why is there so much actor talk under "tech talk"?
And why are train tickets so expensive all of a sudden?
And... and..

There are a number of sites you could try. Check out the Victorian section on the links page. Music Theatre Guild, Victorian Drama League, Theatre People,TicketMaster and several others.
Unfortunately, i'm not aware of any though that offer quite the range of features or flexibility of this site - yet!

Now you're talking!
We're only weeks away from launching this site fully at a national level. Check the following link to see a preview of what's in store:
http://theatre.asn.au/test/frame.html
Visitors can select their state and only productions, auditions and news relevant to that state will be displayed.
Currently there's a dearth of information available in the database from other states, but over the next few weeks we'll be adding it in from various sources.
Just as with here in WA, this really is a community effort. It will only succeed if there are enough people from Victoria and the other states that care to make it work. The site has been a real boon in WA, there's no reason why it shouldn't work even better in other states!
> And why is there so much actor talk under "tech talk"?
Isn't that just like the warm props?
;-)

At least you have trains!

RE: grin grin
Fortunetly there are a lot of jokes to cover actors - being out of place.
So I won't indulge myself - as this sections proves the point!!!
"actors are children playing 'ego-seek'" (applause)
Bless them all??? -
as much as we try to get along without them......
they can never seem to get along without us!!!!

RE: grin grin
I got one too:
Q: How many actors does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: 10. One to change it, the other nine to say "I could have done that better".
peace,
D.M.

Q: How many actors does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: Depends on what it says in the script
Q: How many actors does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: 100. One to screw in the bulb, 99 to stand around saying
"I could have done THAT!"
Q: How many actors does it take to change a light?
A: One.... if he can find it.
Q: How many straight actors does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Both of them.
Q: How many Lighting Techs does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None, if it was working once,
they know better than to mess with it
Some actors claim that technicians arn't important.
They may use the example from ancient greek theatre--
"Did they have lights back then?"
The answer is simply
"Yes. And who supplied them with light? GOD."
And lo' we the tech's that build the set - hang the lights - cue the sound - fly the sets and build a woderful show.
And lo' the actor show up misses his cue falls on the set - stands out of light - say's the wrong line - and ...and....and.....
then trips into the new scrim.
AND we think what a wonderful show
except for those warm props.
Me thinks we should stop this - before the actors realise?
But - there again!!!!
Q What is the most dangerious thing in the Theatre?
A An actor with a power tool
or - behind the pros?
Q How do you tell when a technicain is dead?
A When the his pizza falls out of his hand on to the floor
Q What do you call an audio tech with his head
in a mains power board?
A 'DEAD'
ENOUGH ............ENOUGH!!!! - for now anyway!

Actually, I'm bloody good with a power tool.
But that might say a lot about my acting!!
