RE: ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER

Hello. I would like to help but where are you?
I am eager to do some theatre work so mail me back and let me know.
Just one last question...is it paid work? Just asking out of curiosity more than anything else.
Hopefully I'll hear from you soon

RE: ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER

Hi Amy

Sorry it is in Perth and it is for community theatre - so no bannanas!!!!!

However have you tried the Union office in Sydney - join? as they do get from time to time requests for crews for big giggs or apply to a crewing company.
Failing that door knocking or cold canvas and/or using your pc print up some post cards self addressed with a stamp and on the other side list your particulars in catergories and have a tick box next to them - headed by some blurb about you (age and what ever) with siutable lines at the bottm for remarks and provision for appiontment dates and times, the name or extention number of who to contact ect., even the usual knock back or call back latter tacked on the end.

Send them to every theatre and who ever you think of in an envelope addressed to them - so all they have to do is tick the box or make a quick comment and as it allready has a stamp and is addressed, it make it easy for them to reply with very little effort.

If you are desperate enough and while a bit costly, although compared to the phone bill, parking fees and shoe lether it could work out cheaper, I beleive you will pleasantly surprised and may receive more enquires than cards you send - as happened to me.

Anyhow best of luck!

Hope this helps

RE: ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER

Hell, if I everhad someone say that anywhere near me, I'd be like, whare have you been all my life?! Seriously, I know there are hundreds of people who would kill for the oportunity to do some ASM work - me for example, except for being in the wrong state. Have you *tried* advertising? Even a few notices, stuck up in the right places, would do the trick I'm sure.
