Theatre lighting is a mixture of technical and artistic skill.
I will be running an Introduction to Theatre Lighting Workshop at the Garrick Theatre on Monday 20 May 2013 from 7pm to 9.30pm, discussions to 10pm for those that can stay.
We will discuss the lighting design requirements for Project MacBeth as part of the workshop, create a lighting plan, and associated paperwork such as a patch sheet. Then we might not rig, show you how to focus and will plot.
This show will be using Show Cue System http://www.showcuesystems.com/ to run audio and video projection and trigger the lighting stack on the new LSC Domino X 96 desk using midi. http://www.lsclighting.com/help-centre/downloads/func-startdown/595/
Some of the lighting will be preset for continuity of the workshops, as we do not have time to start from scratch. As a guide to rigging, you should allow 30 minutes per light to rig and focus and as we will be using over 30 lights, we do not have time to do it all on the night. Please read this http://www.theatre.asn.au/tech_talk/how_long_does_it_take_to_set_up_the_lighting_for_a_community_theatre_production
There is no charge for these workshops.
It is being held in conjunction with setting up the lighting for the next production at the Garrick Theatre, Project MacBeth http://www.garricktheatre.asn.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=165:project-macbeth&catid=55:2013-season&Itemid=95
