Hey guys I'm looking at volunteering as a stage technician in Perth and wondering how i go about it. I don't have any experience with the theatre but i have a long history in maintenance and construction. I'm pretty sure i'd have skills and the all important tickets to help out. A friend of mine took me back stage at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, that's pretty much where the idea came from. Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul

Hi Paul. There are many community theatre groups in Perth who are always looking for such volunteers. At Melville we will be building the set for The Mousetrap in early October if you want to join in. Contact me if you are interested. It may depend on what area you live in. www.meltheco.org.au

Set construction & working backstage

Hi Paul, as Jeff says many theatre companies are looking for people to help build and work backstage. Marloo Theatre is based in Greenmount, theyre current show is mostly built, We will be starting to build also around October for our pantomine Jack & the Beanstalk. If you are interested let me know, also I know the Garrick Theatre in Guildford will be looking for people too for their next two shows. geo2660@gmail.com www.marlootheatre.com.au www.garricktheatre.asn.au

Thanks

Thanks to everyone that replied to my message, there is definitely plenty of work out there for volunteers. Unfortunately i have just found out that my company is moving me to Newcastle in a few months so i guess i won't be able to help in Perth but i'll certainly try over there. Thanks again. Paul

Hi People – I am looking

Hi People – I am looking at volunteering myself basically in theatre helping out in any way in production. I have just left the workforce and have this burning desire to go back to the media. My past experiences are way back in Malaysia in TV/Radio as a presenter, floor manager and co-ordinating producer. I have also taken part in many children plays. I live in Canning Vale - Perth and can be contacted via my mob on 0403160311. Any suggestions will also be greatly appreciated. Thank you Singam
