This is a Proeatre SM's tool kit which for Ameatre may seem some what over the top!

Or is it?

Taking into account in most cases the proeatre Productions are purely renting a space, here today gone tomorrow!

However it may assist a number of Ameatre SM's!

Invariably a lot of the kit is available at the Ameatre venue as a production cost, but not always & it's usually far easier to build up your own over time.

Couldn't get the link to work but....

I have a friend whose SM kit is a maglite, a leatherman and a pen. I have a huge tool kit but I'm a sparky and carry electrical repair tools as a matter of course. My lady wifes SM kit is Screw drivers various Phillips and flat head. (Three of each) Small hammer Pair of pliers Adjustable spanner (Not my Bahco) Various pens Safety pins Small First aid kit Packet of cable ties Electricians tape Gaffer Tape Masking tape Stanley Knife. If I've left anything out I'm sure she'll tell me. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au www.moorebooks.net.au

When I was working

When I was working in Proeatre, I noticed with incoming productions, most of the SM's were female [at least I believed so?] & invariably were better organised with a lot more gear than the blokes.

With the few male SM's  they would rely on what they could carry on their belt or in their pockets, such as a Leatherman, maglite, lighter, smokes ect.

Actually I stopped buying the Leatherman, because they kept disappearing, so I got a cheaper folding knife & I have had that one for years.

One thing I've noticed the female SM's  always have a first aid kit, but the few blokes who are SM's just tend to use electrical tape for cuts & gaffer tape for everything else.

Thanks Joe

I've had a look. Even for a Pro kit that's a bit over the top. It's as big as mine and like I said, I'm a sparky and carry extra tools for electrical work. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au www.moorebooks.net.au

You forgot....

You forgot the spare batteries (AA and AAA and one 9V) all of which were used during Fringe, also the roll of paper towel (handy for mopping up spills, blood, packing a small gap in the scenery, etc). plus one or two other odds and sods like the small pack of different size hooks I found one day that just keeps getting used, and the pegs for holding curtains closed, or open, and the safety pins. All in a small red box. I stand by the first aid kit...although it too, is self built rather than completely shop bought. When Nathan cut his hand quite badly two minutes before TRex I held his hand under the water cask for 1 minute, dried it by pressing firmly with paper towel, then doused it with the antiseptic stuff, shoved a pre-wrapped sterile cotton pad on it and held it on with paper tape overlaid with gaffer. Stung like heck but it didn't shift until after the performance when we got him to the proper first aider who laughed at the sight of it but said I'd done the right thing. In spite of the initial sting when the dettol went on Nathan was happy too, hurrah for gaffer!

with the tourch

With my maglite I normally have it on a leather thong laniard, which is decorated in Turk Heads & Senit knots. The Turks head holds the maglite near the adjustable lens with left & right Senit knots to a loose looped standings end. These are tied to the pouch on my belt, so the naglite can be used on the laniard or out of the pouch, as a candle or hand held & I haven't lost one since.

Further I normally carry roller bandages for masking  on to flats, as a Dutchman & effecting repairs to canvas skinning.

generaly gaffer or sparky tape, surfices to reduce my blood leaking.

You only need two

You only need two tools: Gaffer to stop things moving that shouldn't move. A hammer to make things move that won't move.
