Just wondering if some-one out there is familiar with the Beringer Eurolite 24/12 lighting board. Our company has purchased one after reading mixed reviews about it but thought that it would suit our financial status (not quite poor but not rolling in cash either...LOL). We had a tech on our last show spend some time with it and he ended up throwing his hands in the air in defeat and brought his own. Has anyone had problems with this board and it's ability (or inability) to program more than 12 channels at one time...??? Love to hear your thoughts

Absolute rubbish

Without doubt the worst board ever made, I bought one as the specs looked excellent but could never get it to work, so I sold it on Ebay and stated just that, and still got my only ever negative feedback.I think that in order to work it you need a post graduate degree in computing, I have yet to find anyone who can, I suggest you take it back to the shop and get them to teach you or get a refund.

Ah yes

OK I've got one and I use it but I don't love it. You can program over 24 channels but it aint easy and the whole thing is counter intuitive. The feature I love is the one where you press the hold button and the only way to get the board working again is to reboot the software from scratch thereby losing everything you've done. This has applied to all three of these boards that I've played with so I am assuming it's standard. I'm guessing you've got the manual, if not you can download it from the Behringer site. Mind you I suspect it was translated from the original Norwegian by a dislexic (sp?) Korean. Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing. www.tonymoore.id.au

Caveat Emptor

I can only speak with authority and experience on Behringer's audio gear- but will blindly assume that the same goes for their visual stuff.

I've found that their stuff is great... for the brief time it works!  Once it goes wrong (which sadly doesn't take long) it's one PITA after another.  Best to steer clear of it for anything remotely resembling long-term use.

If you check out their product catalogue, they tend to stick their name on ANYTHING- amps, boards, DJ set-ups, effect pedals, instruments... they're not "specialist", and I've found that to be a sure sign that quality control is not the highest of priorities.  You Get What You Pay For- unfortunately.

When it goes wrong, which

When it goes wrong, which it will, it will be dead. There are other low cost desks you could have purchased. E-Bay may have been the way to go, or second-hand

Behringer finds a good

Behringer finds a good audio product and copies it, but their lighting desk is totally original and unique, they really should have stuck with copying. I use their audio gear often and it has been fine.

Have you ever read the

Have you ever read the promo material Behringer put out? I won’t disagree with any of the posts here, but they do have a world class facility and produce gear that ANYONE can afford. In fact, my mum’s birthday present this year was their Karaoke mixer - which cost less than the bunch of flowers she usually gets from RosesOnly. They server a purpose, and it’s simply to provide cheap entry level equipment to the masses. I’ve used plenty of their gear over the years with mixed success. Their Digital EQ circa 2002 died while processing the main PA for a performance once which taught me a lesson about their reliability, and I’ve had more than one Eurorack power supply give up before its time. At the same time though, I’ve had 4 Behringer A/D converters that have been working hard for years without trouble. The moral is, with Behringer always have a contingency, but if it suits the budget don’t write it off. The exception is that damn lighting desk - I don’t know what they were thinking on that one, its a dog
