Purchasing a ProCyc? Or something similar?
Mon, 17 Aug 2009, 09:58 pmI need to pick someone's brains!
I am currently directing a production, and I really want to use a rear projection cyclorama (ProCyc) to project settings etc onto. From what I can gather, ProCycs have some sort of plastic quality that stops them from creasing, makes them extremely durable, but most importantly, light can be projected from front, rear and sides.
Does anyone know if there is a retailer for ProCycs in Australia? Or where I can buy a normal Cyc from (preferably in Victoria)? If not, does anyone have any suggestion for another product to use, or another 'translucent medium' that would diffuse light in the same manner?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am a little stuck!
Thanks :)

Have you checked with the
Have you checked with the list of companies at www.alia.com.au? They'd be my best suggestion, since it's usually up-to-date on equipment and hirers. Even if you can't find info on the ProCyc, you could at least find someone who sells/hires normal cycs; just check their companies listed in Victoria. (Off the top of my head, a number of lighting hire companies occur to me in Melbourne, but I don't recall their product lists well enough to know if they have cycs)

I would also talk to some
I would also talk to some of the local AV companies that supply projectors for sales and hire. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for your suggestion
Thanks for your suggestion regarding the ProCyc. I'll have a look at the ALIA site and see what companies I can find to help me out! Thanks again :)

I'd already found the website with the pro-cyc information on it before which is what gave me the idea to try it! I'll get in touch with theatrequip and see what they can do for me too.
Thanks for your advice :)
