Sun, 10 May 2009, 12:35 amhi i am new to lighting design but i have been doing sound for 2 years and i am in the process of getting a portable stage light system to go with my pa system.
so far i have a Behringer Eurolight LC2142. im looking for a 12 channel dimmer or a 6 channel dimmer to go with it in a portable rig.
my price maximum is $600 but im willing to go up to $800.

Firstly, my condolences on buying possibly the worst desk ever made, but what are you going to plug into your dimmer?, as that will tell us how much power you need and whether you can use single phase dimmers, which are quicker and easier and cheaper or 3 phase.As long as you are happy with used gear there is no problem at that price.

If you are after single phase dimmers which are roughly around your price range -
Jands 4 pak (new Dmx version) is around $800 new.
Theatrelight Comet 6 Dimmer, not sure on price but would probably be around the same.

Dimmers
I've just looked around and can supply 2 Light Emotion 4 way dmx dimmers, single phase, for $600 + gst, for the same price, used Showtec 6 way dmx dimmers, single and/or 3 phase, all with 12 months warranty.Can someone beat that?

The 6 channel Showtec's
The 6 channel Showtec's from David are great. We bought some from him last year and havent looked back. Not too portable though if you are after lightweight.
David, what do you think of the JANDS 4 pak box? We have an old one here in Kalgoorlie which doesnt fade any more, just on and off. Was thinking of a new one for a small 4 channel 10 amp solution.
Thoughts?
