Ticketing advice
Sat, 25 Apr 2009, 02:57 pmI have a show being put on in June in Melbourne and we have only ever produced shows as part of Fringe Festivals/Midsumma Festival so have never had to worry about organising the ticketing ourselves! I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap/ish ticketing agency I could use to sell tickets to our show through.
Thanks, Kerith

Sat, 25 Apr 2009, 03:51 pmThere are a couple of adverts on this site for such services if you do a search (I used to have them bookmarked, but recently deleted them, so I can't exactly point you to them off the top of my head). I do know of one person who has been using Greentix (.com.au I think), but not sure if they would recommend them or not, mainly because I haven't asked :)
You want to be careful with all these services: many charge fees, many may not work as well as you'd hope (ie. stuffing up dates on tickets, etc), but you also need to check how the money gets sent to you and when. You may find that it is just as cheap to set up your own website using a free service (ie. Freewebs) and then adding paypal buttons on the site. It all depends on whether or not you want to have more or less control over how the tickets are sold, and whether or not you want the hassle of keeping track of bookings, etc.
