Stephen's got some great tips on how to be a stage manager throughout a 12 week production schedule! Must read!
A bit of a stretch
Wed, 8 Apr 2009, 05:49 amIf you were talking professional theatre, I'd consider you were dreaming to get 4 full weeks of rehearsal!
While the information in the link is a good guide to the list of tasks you may encounter, the timeline is misleading, and much of it shouldn't be labelled 'rehearsal'.
For instance, both week 1 and 2 list tasks to be done before auditions are even completed, and week 12 is really tech week and post-production...er, that's not rehearsal. Also, almost all of the tasks he lists as taking up the first two weeks could be accomplished after one afternoon's production meeting!
I can only assume his frame of reference is for groups who meet and rehearse quite infrequently, elongating what ought to be a much quicker process.
Cheers,
Craig
