Sound effects required

A lad in sane productions require 3 sound effects for our forthcoming production. The first is a soccer crowd singing 'You'll never walk alone,' The second, the sound of horses galloping (ala cavalry charge) followed by the sound of the horses falling /neighing etc...I'm thinking Charge of the Light Brigade minus any guns or canons... The 3rd is the sound of arrows fired into the air by a group of archers.. if anyone can help, or point me in the right direction, I'd be most appreciative. cheers Johnny Grim A lad in sane productions

But when it comes to the chorus, the recording cuts off and you just hear the crowd singing unaccompanied. Shouldn't be hard to edit. If you go to the site Graeme recommended, you can download a sound file. Then you can just burn a CD of the file. Make sure you burn it so it's an audio CD (not a data CD, because then a CD player won't recognise the format). Easy. Turtle shadow puppet for sale at Puppets in Melbourne

We've used Goldwave, which is free shareware, for audio engineering. It's fantastically simple, be brave and muck about with it, you'll be amazed at what you can do. It is free (although you do get a licence). I created a dam burst for Labrug once by layering various SFX and fiddling about, was great fun! Also, consider using Sound Cue System to actually run your sound from a laptop plugged into the theatre's sound system (or your long suffering parent's amp & speakers). It is also shareware, not free, but only about $20 and it also allows manipulation (fading in/out, joining cues, etc.) of sound rather than just playing back what you've already burnt to a CD. AudioSparx.com has a good range of sound effects if the others haven't come up trumps yet. The site charges for effects/music but it's very reasonable. All those men in kilts!! Oh my!! Goldwave isn't actually free. There is a free version but it's good to pay something to help those people who are trying to save us all from the corporate meanies. The full version costs about $50.00 Canadian. It then becomes yours for life including updates although you have to log on to get them they don't tell you about them. Is that all there is? Ah, I was going to say what Tony said, but he got here first. It's not a free program, rather there is a 'trial' version which is free and has limitations, and a full version which requires payment. As he says, you pay once and you get lifetime upgrades. (I have had a copy of the program myself since 2003) The use of the word 'shareware' is incorrect in this case. A shareware program is much like a Creative Commons photo on Flickr (or elsewhere for that matter), in that you can download it to your computer, use it for commercial uses, or upload it to a site for other people to download. You can not however, upload it to your site and ask people for money in order to download it. In this instance, the free version of Goldwave is called a 'trial', and is quite different from shareware in that you can't (I'm assuming this is correct) upload it and give it away on your on site. SCS is now selling for US$51 for the basic version up to US$130 for the pro version. NCH Software also have a program called WavePad that edits audio. The basic version is free. Well worth a look.

I must thankyou all most sincerely for the Tsunami of advice...all of it great... now! I'll just put my copy of 'Sunshine on Leith' back in it's sleeve, and venture with some trepidation into the sea of technology that is but at my fingertips..alas, the fingertips are ney the problem, the mind however, well that's another story.. sincerely... I appreciate it all...and Alfred will do so too when he comes over on Saturday to mix the soundtrack. and translate the various foreign languages sed here...a good man is Alf, handsome, and technically savvy, fine qualities for a man, shame he looks such a dork in a kilt!
