Fri, 4 July 2008, 01:34 pmAn excellent guide that explains talkback systems is available online at http://www.telexradiocom.com/binary/Handbook%20of%20Intercom%20Systems%20Engineering.pdf is the Handbook of Intercon Systems Engineering, First Edition for Telex. This guide is applicable for nearly every system.
The cdrom they mention is usually given away at trade shows such as ENTECH.
In amateur theatre groups, a wired system is the most ecconomical way to go.
There are still a few Realistic FM wireless headset systems in use in Perth amateur theatres and schools.
Not all systems are interchangeable so make sure you do your research or specify compatibility with an existing system if you buy new talkback equipment.
Professional wireless systems are very expensive, but are essential to the success and productivity of any large show so are justified when the budget is prepared beforehand.
There will be several different talkback systems at the ITA Incite workshop day.

Me thinks you did mean 'incite' secretly, because it will certainly get a few of us off our collective 'R Sends! To venture beyond the four walls & do something more than a quick gaff job, on a shoe sting, with 2 old bean cans.
