Volunteer in Youth Theatre
Sat, 20 Oct 2007, 06:29 amHi,
I was talking to someone the other day about volunteering as a technition in a few productions and he mentioned the name of a Youth Theatre Group however i cant seem to recall their name!
Does anyone know of any youth theatre groups in melbourne that would be good for this sort of work? Talking in around Frankston sort of way.
Thanks

Did you try a search in the
Did you try a search in the companies section on this site? ... I'm not familiar with the Frankston area, but perhaps Sean B could offer some advice (he's in that area).
If you want some production work, you should also consider volunteering at your school (I'm presuming you're still at school, your profile revealed nothing about your age, so forgive me if I'm wrong).

Panorama would be the big
Panorama would be the big youth theatre company here, they just wound up their performance of Les Miserable.

You can enquire more on that site.
However there are quite a few groups in the 'Frankston Area' that could probably use some volunteer techies. Pelican Theatre Comapny is based in Hastings (if you are around there or willing to travel that bit more of a distance from Frankston) and are a smaller group that are emerging. They write and perform their own shows and have done a few this year I think. I'm pretty sure they are also a youth minded group.

Will be able to get you more information.
Not exactly youth orientated but a group that from their website appears to be looking for interested Techies is Frankston Theatre Group
http://frankstontheatregroup.org.au/
You could also look into PLOS I suppose, they're of a higher standard and might be looking for a bit more experience for their techies though.
http://www.plos.asn.au/
You could also check out the Frankston Arts Centre website and see if they're looking for volunteers too.
And although we only operate small productions currently and have most of our techies already you could always keep in contact with me and my group 'The Lazy Creations Group' at www.freewebs.com/lazycreationsgroup or www.myspace.com/lazycreationsgroup
We have no shows planned for the moment, but feel free to make contact, who knows what the future has in store.
Have fun looking around.

Not a problem, I had a feeling it would be Pano you were after.
I didn't know how much help I'd be Na, as you know I don't do a lot of amateur theatre with the local companies, but I do know a few from friends etc.

Yeah I guessed that was the point.
There's actually another emerging group in Tyabb that one of my friends is performing with. I'm not sure what it's called though.
Time for some research.
