Young DANISH LD searching job in australia
Thu, 24 May 2007, 05:14 pmHi all,
I am a young LD from Skanderborg in DENMARK! I am currently looking for a place to work "down there". I got lots of expirience from local
theater and conterhalls. I can translate my CV if nescesary..
I am looking for a full-time job at a theater or concerthall og other sound/ligh company. I have got extensive training in WYSIWYG, and i got my
own! Also i have my own LightFactory system.
If anybody has any ideas on how to find a job, or have one to offer me, i would be glad by hearing it, either by posts in this forum, or by mail or so.
my mail is: mbp @ teksnak dot dk or by phone +45 60945946

Ok, well, you should think
Fri, 25 May 2007, 07:44 amOk, well, you should think about figuring out where you want to go. You may not mind either way, but it significantly changes what we would advise you to do.
For instance, Melbourne has a lot more 'fringe' theatre (more unpaid and profit-share work) than Sydney. Eastern Australia has more theatre in general, but Western Australia and South Australia have opportunities too.
I suggest that you have a look at the range of jobs available in each area, and then decide what seems more suitable to you in terms of gaining some employment.
Please note: it is extremely difficult to gain full-time employment as a technician, with most of these jobs being at being venues (ie. Sydney Opera House). You should think very long and hard about whether or not you will be able to support yourself here doing only theatre work.
If you would like, download my list of theatre links (there are plenty of websites to look at in the folder of 'job hunting') at http://www.thepromptcopy.com/pip/theatrelinks.htm
I used this regularly to find jobs, and it covers the entirety of Australia.
When you decide on where you'd like to go, we can again give you more specific information.
