gobo holder
It will be easiest to make them or get them made by someone in your school or club or a local sheetmetal co.Just measure the size of the slot as there are two sizes of slots in Patt 23's then get any gobo holder so that the metal worker can copy the general idea. With so many different sizes of gobos and slot sizes in the different manufacturers I often knock up a holder for a particular situation, a pair of tin snips and a nibbler will usually make a workable if not pretty holder in about 10 minutes

Under normal circumstances I would break out the tin snips and build me a gobo holder but this particular job is actually a semi permanent installation in a shop and I have in the past had some problems with long term use of home made holders causing them to buckle and destroy the gobo. The two quotes I received for making the damn things from scratch in a metal work shop frightened me as it would have been cheaper to import them personally from the UK (air mail). I will make home made ones and continue my search for some in SA thanks anyway.
Is that all there is? Well if that's all there is my friend, then let's keep dancing.

Gobo Holders for Patt 23 Profiles
Hi Tony,
I just saw your (22/10/2006) plea for info. I have not yet found any source in Oz but here are a few places you might try for purchasing for overseas. They all carry a very wide variety of lighting items and might just have something that would suit your need:
www.secoa.com (USA)
www.premier-lighting.com (USA)
www.esta.org/homepage/bash/ (USA)
www.whitelight.ltd.uk/ (UK!)
www.citytheatrical.com
City Theatrical has two types of holder (I am not sure if they would fit Patt 23):
'Tabbed Template Holder' (Cat #2100) fits an Altman 360Q/Shakespeare and is rectangular, width 3 5/16 inch, hole diameter 2 5/8 inch
'Wedgelock Template Holder'(Cat #2110) is the same width and hole size but is shaped like a flat ring with a long handle and can be rotated through 40 degrees.
Good Luck and all the best, Charles
LogosMon, 22 Jan 2007, 02:31 pm Thankyou very much for your response.
I made some home made ones for the job I was doing and they warped and I had to replace them twice but in the meantime a friend in the UK (David Fitch) has come to the rescue and some are on their way to me. Thanks anyway.
