Judging on what Suzie was saying, Some of the new 1st years have not confrimed if they are coming. So if you haven't received a "Thanks but not this year" letter you might still be in with a chance..... Anyone not got a letter yet?

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Hey Pan, I just asked this question in another thread

""Cant believe that some of the first years have not replied to confirm their position. How can you not!! I would think that would be the first thing you would do??

What happens if they decline do they ring more ppl or leave the group at a smaller number or do they ring some of the cert ppl to do the BA. How does it work.

Its been a couple of weeks now since offers went out. There are so many others out there desperate to get in.""

Maybe its just me but when you audition- and especially those from interstate- you know that Perth is where you will spend the next 3 years. Why audition if you are not passionate about doing the course or making the move. Maybe there is chance for those to be upgraded from cert to BA??

Yes, Perth is a quiet city compared to Melb and Sydney, not the same hipe and night life but from what I can gather, the BA doesnt allow you to get bored and the ppl in the course are what makes it sooooo good as well

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

I too would like to know what happens if the BA students decide to decline the offer. WAAPA obviously has backups.

At the auditions/callbacks aren't you asked if your prepared to move to Perth at the time, I agree -why try out if your not prepared to move.

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Hey Guys,

Some people that were offered a place this year have chosen to do other courses instead, so they do offer it to other people. But these are not necessarily the people that got accepted in Cert. A lot of people audition for the BA with out auditioning for certificate as well.

There have been several instances of people being offeredd positions while they are waiting to here about pro jobs as well and stuff like that, so you never know what the deal is. This does seem like a long time to confirm the list though.

Until all 18 have confirmed they won't release the list, but they could just be waiting on 1 or 2. With out being trying to be pessimistic I wouldn't hold your breath though. Sorry.

Love

matt

Yeah thats cool.. Hoping that cos both BA and Cert were ticked on the form might have upgraded from Cert to BA. Ah well twas just and optimistic thought.

Can understand if those are waiting for jobs but other courses???? Each to their own, everyone is different, thats what makes the world so interesting

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

I know of at least 2 people that were offerd MT spots at Waapa and NIDA. One of them decided to take NIDA as the course is only 1 year and apparently the number of graduates getting work at the end of the course is the same as WAAPA.

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Wow thats very interesting! Isnt the 1 year NIDA course part time like the MT Cert Course at WAAPA.

Yes it is, and if its the girl i'm thinking of there were lots of other reasons ( like her family). I wish she was coming though!!

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

and thats also misleading info about the nida course as opposed to waapa. waapa grads are actually getting more work and quite alot of grads from the nida course once finished come to waapa. I think it was 5 from the graduating class of last year did it first and then came to waapa and one in my year (3rd yrs 2006) and a few in the year below (2nd yrs 2006) did nida first. Lots of people see it as a stepping stone because it is only a part time course, much the same as vca or waapa cert. Not to discredit the nida course but a lot of people who do it, come to waapa once theyve done it, most of the grads each year end up auditioning for waapa too. maybe someone from sydney can shed some more light on it, (im from melb) maybe marty or hiawatha?

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Its not fair everyone knows each other. No chance then of being upgraded from cert to BA if Angela has declined????

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Hey Mel M are you coming from over east to study the Cert in Perth? The Certificate is a really fabulous part time course and you have an awesome year! Even if you don't get "upgraded" to the BA (which to be honest i don't think happens often/at all?) I'm thinking your Waapa experience will be great anyway!

Just like to tell it like it is Lu.

Just like at home! Don't want you running around Serenity with false hopes and dreams so we all have to let you know what we really think of you ;)

Hi to everyone else... you can all run around Serenity thinking anything you like

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

it never happens, there really is no such thing as "getting upgraded" thats completely ludicrous. unfortunately the only people to be considered for BA are people who auditioned and got call backs. The staff are not going to just pick a random person who auditioned for BA and didnt get a call back or someone in cert, it would be someone theyve seen dance as well and worked with in the acting improv that happens in the call back. Also someone theyve chatted to, they have to know if youll fit into the class already chosen. Yes a few people get in to BA after having done cert but its not a huge number of people and the ones that are generally got call backs for BA as well. Sorry but the concept of being upgraded is completely ridiculous, the course isnt that simple to get into. There are many factors.

ps-i miss serenity! and anyone know where hooley is? he went to hong kong and has disappeared, guess we'll have to find someone else to play Pal joey ;) lol

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

Ludicrious, ridiculous--- 2000 audition - Sydney- room mate got call back for cert and accepted then offered BA within weeks.

Hum
Walter PlingeWed, 21 Dec 2005, 04:30 pm

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

I presume your room mate would've got a call back and got close to getting into the BA aswell as getting into Cert... I think what Charity was talking about (all be it possibly a little too passionately) is that certificate and BA are actually completely different courses and the certificate is not just the people that just missed out on getting into BA.

There for there could be a lot of people that got close to getting into the BA that may be offered a place if people pull out that are not in Certificate.

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

An interstate guy ( no names) was told last yr by the WAAPA panel, your brilliant, we want you in the BA but your young. If you Audition for us again in 2005 your in automatically. They had ummed and arred whether to take him last yr even offered him cert course. Said if anyone declines they will discuss the prospects of taking him in 2004. All a bit odd to me or is it just talk.

Re: Anyone out there who auditioned for Waapa and hasnt got a no

i think everyone needs to chill out a little, there are no rules and regulations about how you get into the course things happen and it doesnt really matter. weirder things have happened than someone in certificate be accepted to BA
just got the list of first years. really means nothing to me as i dont know anyone its still exciting though!
