WAAPA Second Call Backs
Fri, 25 Nov 2005, 09:30 amHas anyone or does anyone know of someone who got a second call back anywhere in Australia. Male or female and ages
Lovelee got one - a south australian auditioning in Perth. 18 year old female
Apparently 3 for the BA and 1 cert in Perth. ? sex and age
What about other states???
The 2005 BA of MT is predominately male.

Re: WAAPA Second Call Backs
Hope they change their minds and the cert get a dance audition. If its a MT course whether cert or BA all should dance!!!!!

Re: WAAPA Second Call Backs
Well done hope you get in. So there are more cert call backs in Perth not just the two 18 year olds. Did they tell you definately no dance audition.

Re: WAAPA Second Call Backs
Exactly. Couldn't agree more. You should have to do all three disciplines for both the cert and BA.
Its ridiculous.

Re: WAAPA Second Call Backs
I guess the successful candidates should at least have a bit of coordination in terms of dancing! but it's also something that can be taught :P I know they like you to have a bit of jazz background. My friend who just graduated from the BA course didn't have ANY dance experience whatsoever when he started MT. But he has a fabulous voice... I guess that's what set him apart. "potential" is what they're looking for, so i hear :)

WAAPA - MT...
I find it soooooooo intriguing how we don't have this same fervour with people auditioning for the Acting courses....:)
Crispy.
Crispy.

Re: WAAPA - MT...
Yeah there is an obsessive quality, which if nothing else demonstrates passion and dedication.
It's interesting to note that some of the most successful Musical theatre performers are Acting course grads...WAAPA' s Hugh Jackman comes to mind, and I noticed when I saw the Lion King last year that a great deal of the principle cast was composed of NIDA acting grads, and yet another NIDA acting grad is appearing in a lead role in Les Miserables on the West End...
Just a thought.

Re: WAAPA MT
There was a posting by LN from the 'Sing over King' a MT course in Sydney. In that course you are expected to know how to dance as it is not a requirement in the course. It is very hard to teach someone to dance well who is older unless of course they are exceptional.
As I said to Wall Flower, I know Lovelee and she is an exceptional dancer with a theatrical voice, maybe not as classical as they like and thats why they are looking at the cert for her.
I admire her for travelling from SA to WA to audition-total commitment. From a secondary school teachers perspective I would have liked WAAPA to see her dance as she was the only Year 12 student to top the state in Dance Studies last year.
However, dance is not what they are looking for, what a shame.

Re: WAAPA MT
With regards musical theatre vs acting courses and speaking personally, it's the musical content which really draws me to the musical theatre courses. I agree that some of australia's top celebrities are from pure acting streams. Basically, I know that I'll enjoy the singing and acting components that go with a MT course, which is why I've opted to audition for this instead of acting... but yeah, kudos must go to acting courses around australia for producing such high calibre performers :)

Re: WAAPA MT
Its great to see you guys all supporting each other, I did a call back for waapa acting and its like getting blood out of a stone getting info out of any of the acting callbacks. If i get in i hope the other actors are as nice as you musical actors. Must be the music that makes ya'll nice.
