Re: Beauty and the Beast

I would suspect that the safest bet would be a group with a strong history, secure finacially and with a good following will be best placed to pull this one off.

Who is producing in Newcastle ?

I would probably be inclined to go with GMS over either of these groups for this reason, they have the resources and a proven history in staging these major events.

Re: Beauty and the Beast

Hey Helen,

I would suggest you do a bit of background checking on companies before you open your mouth regarding proven history etc....
The Newcastle Dramatic Art Club have been presenting theatre for the last 67 years.. In 2004 we presented a large scale production of Les Miserables at the Civic theatre in Newcastle. Also in 2002 we did Jesus Christ Superstar, also at the Civic. 2003 Into The Woods. We now only do one show per year and we make that worthwhile. So, if you want info re Beauty and the Beast or on the Newcastle Dramatic Art Club inc. , you can email me at cazandjake@hotmail.com to get your facts.

Kind Regards

GMS didn't get the rights though!?

So we'll never know!?

Best wishes to you Carolyn, I honestly hope it is a success for you!
I'm in Sydney...I might get there to see it!
Hope all goes well!!

Re: Beauty and the Beast

Carolyn honey - it's bitchy reactive comments like yours that make people want to stay away from particular societies.

If you re-read Helen's email - she was asking WHO got the rights in Newcastle - so without knowing that your company got them, how could she be deliberatly slighting your company?

Re: Beauty and the Beast

Thanks,

OK lets just all forget about this now.

We have both already appologised to each other for any offence caused.

I do suspect that all groups initialy granted the rights to present this will do fine productions as I don't imagine Disney would be so inclined to allow the rights to it be granted to a group they didn't feel had the resources to present the show well.

Regards,
Helen

Re: Beauty and the Beast

DONT DO THE SHOW with JoshuaAtha at DEE WHY RSL.

THEY SUCK!!!!!!!

I saw their FAME at Canterbury RSL and it was the worst @!#$ I've ever seen. A friend of mine was in their FORUM and whilst the cast, music and show were OK, the director was an absolute idiot.

If I were you, I'd go to newcastle. They've got an awesome MD.
