From what I understand the amateur rights are now available. Just have to keep your ears to the ground.

Re: Beauty and the Beast
I was asked about 18mths ago - from memory - if I wanted my production company to go on a waiting list to be advised when the show was available for amateurs in Australia. Needless to say I said yes. So far I have not been sent any paperwork.
In the past (when Les Mis first became available for amateurs) we were on the waiting list and once it was actually available they sent us some booking forms with further details.
So based on that past experience I'd say that its not available quite yet.
Although Les Mis was at that stage with Warner Chappell and Beauty and the Beast is with Hal Leonard - I think! And Hal Leonard do do things a bit differently than Warners used to.

Re: Beauty and the Beast
Contact Hal Leonard I say- A couple of months ago I recieved an email confirming it to be available from mid next year and you need to apply- needless to say I'm not certian our company could technically do it justice within that time span, so we are prepared to wait a little. Such a good show can't be half baked. If you can't do it right don't do it at all I say. However I hope that down the track we can take it on and perhaps in conjuction with another theatre company from out of town to share resources- which let's face it that set and costume budget would be huge otherwise.
What company seriously thinks it can do this one justice on it's own. Or maybe my production values are of too high expectation... All the same I'd be interested to see who would risk it... even knowing it should go well at the box office you would hope!
