SA broadway wish list
Wed, 3 Aug 2005, 07:43 amMBM Seasons unleashes Broadway wish List
Matt Byrne Media will unleash a treasure trove of Broadway hit songs from shows that haven't made it to Adelaide yet, in Seasons, at Marryatville High School's Forge Theatre on August 5 and 6 at 8 p.m.
The wish list Broadway revue will feature songs from shows like Beauty And The Beast, Rent, The Producers, Follies, Footloose, Avenue Q, Wicked, Witches Of Eastwick, Big, Buffy, Bat Boy, A New Brain, Children Of Eden, The Life, Assassins and many more.
Director/Producer Byrne said Adelaide often missed out on big musicals, so revues like this were often "the only chance people get to taste these exciting new shows."
"People will know some of the songs, like Be Our Guest from Beauty And The Beast and Seasons from Rent but they never get to hear them live," Byrne said.
"And Seasons seems an ideal name for a show that sets out to inform musical tastes and who knows, maybe some of these shows will make it to Adelaide if people like what they hear!"
Seasons will feature an experience musical comedy cast of Jeff Lang, Dianne k. Lang, Michael Williams, Robyn Woolvett, Alison Clarke and Byrne.
"It will be full of variety, we are providing something for every musical taste," Byrne said.
"Comedy like We Can Do It from The Producers, beautiful ballads like Almost Paradise from Footloose, hot production numbers like Use What You've Got from The Life and chilling numbers like The Gun Song from Assassins.
"It's exciting to do numbers from Wicked which is the prequel to the Wizard Of Oz, hysterical comedy from adult puppet shows like Avenue Q and a classic like Losing My Mind from Follies.
“We even have numbers from a hit new show called Bat Boy, and a musical episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Seasons is a show you can really sink your teeth into!”
Byrne said his production team of musical director Robyn Woolvett and choreographer Sue Pole had done a "fantastic job."
"Having the chance to introduce many of these songs to the Adelaide musical theatre audience is a real privilege and really energising for us,“ he said.
"We want to thank the Marryatville High School for their support in inviting us to perform at the Forge which is a wonderful new venue," he said. "And the school will be providing some fabulous music from their very talented students in the foyer to welcome everyone to the concerts."
Seasons will run at Marryatville High School Performing Arts Centre, The Forge, at 170 Kensington Road on Friday and Saturday, August 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday, August 6 at 2 p.m.
Adults are $20.00 and Concession $15.00 for evening shows, and all tickets are $15.00 for the matinee.
Bookings are available on 8262 4906, 8304 8420, Bass on 131 246 or VenueTix on 8225 8888.
