Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on WAAPA's audition process.

I just did my callback audition yesterday for the musical theatre certificate course. What is the "norm" for these auditions?

Does the panel usually say just a polite "thank you" afterwards, or do they let you know if you are successful right there and then? I got the "thank you" and nothing further...

Do they contact you by mail or phone and can I assume I was unsuccessful as there was no further instruction regarding a dance audition etc??

Thanks!

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

Hi,

As I understand it, I don't think they've ever offered a place to someone right there and then.

Remember, they have to live with you for up to a year, so they want to be absolutely sure that you're right for the course (and presumably the "mix" of the other classmates).

You'll get either a call or a letter in due course - but I'm pretty sure they're not going to leave you hanging forever.

Just try and breath - and relax! :o)

Regards,
Jason

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

Thanks for the infoJason!

I am slightly more at ease now! That was the first time I've auditioned for WAAPA.

Panels have this ability to have expressionless faces during an audition. It's always pretty disheartening.

Guess I just gotta hang tight now...

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

Sare,

I've just completed certificate - last year the panel didn't say anything to me during my callback audition except to clarify that I knew I needed to pay for my own singing lessons.

People auditioning for the certificate are never called back for a dance audition - the dance audition is only for bachelor applicants so you don't need to worry about that.

If you are successful you will recieve a phone call in the next week or so. Otherwise you will recieve a "rejection" letter at the end of december.

I know some people who have just done their callbacks for certificate so if either of them get a phone call saying they have been accepted I'll post it up here so you know that the phone calls have been made (if you would like me to of course).

Sit tight babes! I hope you make it!

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

Much appreciated info Kristi :) Thanks!

That would be fantastic if you could make a post if any of your friends are successful this week... The waiting game is worse than the audition! :P

One question... did you get into the certificate course the first time?

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

Hey,
With the bachlour music theatre course, they call u that night to tell you if you got a callback, otherwise you receive a letter in the mail in the next week, Im sure thats how the certificate auditions would run too!
But they probably wouldnt call u that night for the certificate course because callbacks etc are less and more informal. So sit tight and goodluck!

luv chelle

Re: WAAPA 2nd Auditions

hey when i did the certificate course i didnt find out until the next tuesday.
so wait until next week, and dont give up until near christmas,
i imagine the certificate course is offered to alot of eastern state people who dont end up taking it, so they offer it again to you later. so just dont give up as you may find out later. some people in my class didnt find out till heaps later.

P.S. im glad you found your fifty million frenchmen song kristy, but im so sorry about the simple xmas wish song. its "daggy" when that happens hey.
