Re: Nerves
Well I've always found that nerves can be a good thing (in moderation). A great singer and singing teacher in Melbourne always says that performance nerves push your range higher by about a third, so sometimes a bit of healthy fear can really help!
But in general, particularly for the drama schools, a sense of perspective can help. Ini the long term, make sure that you have alternate plans for next year and don't hinge all your sanity on making it into your top choice school.
In the short term with auditions, people usually say, if you're getting freaked out, don't make a big fuss about your audition day by telling everyone about it, keep it low on the radar, and definitely plan to do something like lunch or a movie or the gym as soon after as you can manage to take your mind off (a good run is always calming).
Having said that, I'm still a bit wiggy about auditioning, but what can you do? The auditioners REALLY want you to be good, so that their job is easier, so nobody wants or expects you to be bad except for yourself.
Emms.
