How come so many who jump in to defend a writer criticised for poor spelling suffer from a similar lack of literary skills? Do they recognise each other and therefore share sympathy? But then, if you can identify your own errors...why can't you avoid them?
Actors need to be able to read. They also need to remember large passages of written text. While Spelling itself is not a prerequisite, a lack of that skill casts doubt on both your ability to read and your memory.
Because that's all spelling is, surely? Remembering written words?
