New Poll - What's the Buzz?
Wed, 26 Nov 2003, 08:51 pmLogged in to see what new poll suggestions had been made, and surprise surprise, in answer to the one on Sondheim we now have one for Lloyd-Webber.
I've edited this one slightly to include a category for those who don't care. (Happy, Greg?)
The Poll-tergeist.

Hate to point this out to you but Bollywood Dreams is not actually a Lloyd Webber Musical
He Produced it, but he didn't write it

Thanks Paul. I've never heard of it. I didn't verify the submission, I just activated it. It hadn't garnered any votes, so I'll just delete it from the list.
(There was another one I'd never heard of in the submission, which I deleted to allow the space for the final category...I can't remember the title now, but there's a space available to put it back in if someone'll remind me what's missing..)

Re: Bomb(ay)s away
there is also "jeeves", which, until "the beautiful game" came along, was his only flop. probably no point including it anyway. would "requiem" be worthy of inclusion or is this not really a musical... Holt?

LOL!!! Thanks Andrew.
By the way, its now called "By Jeeves" and is now a huge success. Amazing what happens when you re-write something. "The Beautiful Game" wasn't a flop, it just closed early - it was around Sept 11 which killed theatre not just on Broadway but in the West End too, because noone wanted to travel with the risk of being slammed into a building. Anyhoo....
"Requiem" isn't a musical Andrew - it is a mass (church music for anyone who doesn't know).
"The Beautiful Game" is Lloyd Webber's latest show, released in 2000 - which is why not many people here would have heard of it seeings it hasn't been, nor is likely to come here. Its facade is about Irish soccer players but delves quite deeply into the Catholic vs Protestant conflict and the IRA. Its not a bad show (I've seen it), but some of the music is really awful and some lyrics are REALLY naff. Saying that, have you ever heard the phrase "premature ejaculation" in a Lloyd Webber show before??!
For anyone who cares, he's currently writing a musical based on Wilkie Collins' novel "The Woman in White".
Dah dah! Any more questions BAKER?!

Re: New Poll - Tell Me What's Happenin'?
It's been brought to my attention that votes in the last category of the poll don't seem to be registering at all.
On looking at the statistics, the total votes registered so far claims to be 78, but tallying up the individual scores only totals 62...I assume that at this point in time the missing 16 have voted in that last category but it's not having any effect.
Is this some kind of "Phantom"? Or are the Lloyd Webber fans trying to 'close every door to me'?
I'm afraid it's beyond my ability to access the code and discover where the error lies....GRANT !!?

Re: Bomb(ay)s away
Well requiem has sarah brightman in it which is why I've never taken much notice. Interesting comment on Spetember 11 - that also stopped the Assassins revival which we were all eagerly anticipating.

Re: Poll results - What's the Buzz?
262 participants in 2 weeks.
Poll percentages are slightly inaccurate due to the poll engine not accepting some votes until it was overhauled, but according to its final statistics...
Favorite Lloyd-Webber musicals:
Song & Dance 19 % 48 votes
The Phantom Of The Opera 18% 46 votes
Sunset Boulevard 13% 32 votes
Jesus Christ Superstar 11% 28 votes
Cats 9% 24 votes
Joseph & His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat 7% 18 votes
(I'd rather listen to my Weber kettle) 6% 16 votes
Evita 4% 10 votes
Aspects Of Love 3% 8 votes
The Beautiful Game 2% 7 votes
Starlight Express 2% 6 votes
Whistle Down The Wind 1 % 3 votes
