Fat bottomed, karma chameleon, take a chance on me musicals!
Tue, 11 June 2002, 11:36 pmNow I love the music of Abba and Queen (and even Boy George had a couple of really good tunes) but does anyone else think that it's rather sad that most of the "new musicals" are basically someone's greatest hits thrown together with a very dodgy plot? That said, I'll be going to see "We Will Rock You" anyway!
Hello everyone who knows me. I'll email you soon.
Cheers,
Gill

Nice title
I wonder if anyone bored and brilliant out there can spin out a title and synopsis for a fictional musical of this 'stolen pop song' type, using as many song titles/lyrics as possible? Of course, it'd have to make sense....
Ooh a challenge!!
Do I have a bidder? Or will I once again embarass myself on the board by speaking nonsense?
=)

Re: Short title
The title "Come Together" has many connotations but could be the collecting of many different songs and people of different backgrounds to a concert or event for the finale.
If you want an Australian flavour of the sixties/seventies such as the forthcoming Long Way To The Top tour, use the Hoadly's Battle Of The Bands theme.

Pretty Woman.
Talk To Me.
Leave Me Alone.
Hey Little Girl.

Mercy! Remind me never to play against you at Song Lyrics in any incarnation of Soap on a Rope/Comedy Sportz/The Big Hoo Haa, Craig!! You've been polishing your act on tour!!
And once again, a quick reminder - Cut Snake Comedy presents The Big Hoo Haa, Improvisational comedy (both long form and shorter games) premieres tonight, Friday the 14th of June, at the Fremantle Hotel, High Street, Fremantle, at the Roundhouse end of the street. Tickets are $8 and $10, from memory, and tonight features, amongst others, such talented improvisers as Sam Longley, Glenn Hall, Claire Hooper, and Maggie McPhee. And it's on, 3 fridays a month, from now on!
See you there! (I will be working the till tonight!)

Wow
*Applauds madly*
Brilliant!
Your...er...thingy has inspired me to whip out some of the old vinyl again and play those vintage songs.
Either that, or I could just go see one of the shows Gill mentioned and help them cash in on people's sentiments for old songs. Nah. Bananarama are living/were living proof that revivals don't always give you the experience that the original can give.

Re: Fat bottomed, karma chameleon, take a chance on me musicals!
This was sent to me by the redoubtable Pamela- I think it a worthy addition to this discussion.
"Booking opens for Madness musical
Booking has opened for the new West End musical Our House.
It opens at London's Cambridge Theatre on October 16 following previews from September 30.
Our House has been written by Tim Firth and features hits from 80s band Madness, including Baggy Trousers, It Must Be Love, Driving My Car, House Of Fun and Night Boat To Cairo.
The musical will also feature two new Madness songs."
The obvious question arises- who's next?
