If the musical is anything

If the musical is anything like the film I could not recommend The Pajama Game. The music is pedestrian, the lyrics are lame, the characters are one-dimensional, the storyline is dull and 'off the rack', and there is little drama to impel the film along. Doris Day just went through the motions- she must have agreed to participate due to financial difficulties. Perhaps the musical is different, but the film was enough to dissuade me from auditioning for a role in this production. There's no way could I 'sell' such a damp squib to potential theatre-goers. Piranhas In Pajamas, now that's something I'd be interested in. At least Lil' Abner's got hillbillies.

Which musical?

Of the 4 listed: Pajama Game pops up every now and again, in fact I believe there is a production happening this year. Li'l Abner would be the toughest sell, as its major selling point is in "bringing the well-loved characters to the stage"... but who in Perth knows (or cares) about these characters??? Bye Bye Birdie and Pal Joey have not been done for AGES!!! Birdie I think is the more well known, but Rodgers & Hart seem to be NEVER done in Perth! (Pal Joey is one of my favourite musicals) I'd pick Birdie or Joey!
