Auditions for WA Premiere of the musical 'The Rink' by Kander & Ebb

This wonderful musical by the team who gave us 'Chicago' & 'Cabaret! Set in the 1970's in a run down roller rink on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States ...The Rink is a story of forgiveness between a Mother and Daughter.....finding their way of letting go of the past and moving into the future... it's a moving tale with so many highs and lows...some of the songs from this show were used in the musical revue by Kander & Ebb 'And The World Goes Round', it featured 'The Rink' 'Marry Me' 'We Can Make It' & 'Coloured Lights'. The original cast starred Liza Minnelli & Chita Rivera as Angel and Anna. *Please note that the Little Girl and The Wreckers (all the guys) will be required to roller skate in the show. There will be an instructor to assist with this who is a professional performer who was in the London cast of 'Starlight Express'. There is also some basic dance skills required by all the men, but especially Tom. Casting: The Females: Angel ( Liza Minnelli role) – requires strong singing and acting skills and some dancing skills – although Angel should be around 25 yrs of age, consideration will be given to younger looking older performers, as experience is of more importance . Anna (Chita Rivera Role) - requires strong singing, acting & dancing skills - Anna needs to be between 45 to 50 yrs of age, consideration again will be given to younger looking older performers or vice versa, as experience is of more importance . Little Girl x 2 – Age 7 yrs + - consideration again will be given to younger looking older performers. Roller Skating is required on proper roller skates, and good acting skills. The girls will perform on alternate nights. The Males: (all men play three roles - except for the lead male 'Dino' who plays two roles & all men will need some basic dance skills) Guy & Dino – Leading man – requires strong singing and acting skills, age should be 25 – 35yrs Lino, Lenny & Punk – strong singing and acting skills. Has a solo called 'Marry Me'. Age 30 – 45yrs Ben, Dino's Father & Mrs Silverman (Female) - singing and acting skills. Age similar to Lino 30 – 45yrs. Buddy, Hiram & Mrs Jackson (Female) – preferably an ethnic performer, ideally dark skinned.Singing and acting skills. Age 25 – 35 yrs Tony, Tom & Punk – thinks he is God's gift to women. Singing and acting skills. Age range 25-35 yrs. Lucky, Sugar (Female) & Punk – youngest male role. Singing and acting skills. Age range 18 – 25yrs. *All auditionees will need to prepare a song of their choice which best shows off their vocal skills. Please either bring sheet music or a backing track on CD or IPod. You will be required to do a reading and perform a small dance routine, which the choreographer will teach you, so please come in suitable/comfortable clothes and footwear.
