I have written a fantasy musical titled Vendal. Though the fantasy genre is often associated with children, this play (though it does contain elements that will attract children) is slightly more sophisticated. This is particularly true in the language, for while it does contain modern language it also has a a lot of formal language and sections of the play are in blank verse (iambic pentameter). There is also a philosophical strain as the play's theme is one of balance between; men and women;different societies; and humankind and nature. The play also contains spectacle, though how spectacular will depend on what budget I can get. There is a dragon, elves, sirens, monsters and a number of sword fights. An example of the blank verse: Narrator: Dark, gloomy, damp and solitary was The grotto high on Zomof Mountain that Served as lair for Argmaster the ancient. Long had he dwelt isolated from all Other living creatures, accepting no Visitations to his secluded world. Till the day came, as they are want to do When friends unwanted and unbidden came To end the sad isolation of grief. The production will hopefully be staged at the Boardwalk Theatre in Mandurah and the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. Both Theatres seat approx. 800. It will be funded by a new company called Scott's Events, which is trying to establish itself. If anybody has thoughts on how I can get other investors, or wish to contribute in some way (I need cast, singers musicians, puppets etc) then I will take on board anything people have to say. If you wish to contact me personally, my email is neilmpearce@bigpond.com. Thanks Neil Pearce
