Hi My name is Isabella and I have writing a fusion cabaret which has been accepted as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival. The festival runs from september - October but we are planning to put the show on over 4 days (6 shows tues - sat with 2 shows on Sat) between 13 - 24 September 2011. Below is a short description of what the show is about: Taking Chances is a fusion cabaret about an unlikely couple, an Aussie boy born and raised on the Central Coast and a Chinese girl from Hong Kong, brought together by chance because of their desire to make changes in their lives. The development of their relationship is unfortunately stunted by their past hurts and troubled childhood upbringing. Through the power of love, they manage to put their past behind them, but more importantly, they learn to trust and love each other. They finally realise that life cannot be lived to its fullness unless they are willing to take chances. Taking Chances contains popular chart busters such as Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by The Four Seasons and other musical theatre favourites such as Take Me or Leave Me from Rent and Don’t Rain On My Parade from Funny Girl. Taking Chances is a light-hearted show devised by Isabella Wong Leung with many comical moments that will surely bring lots of joy and laughter. Taking Chances is brought to life by two fresh musical talents and is a must see cabaret. Songs to be included in the show may include: 1 Perfectly Different (Karina Parsian) 2 What Do You Do with So Many Degrees 3 Don’t Rain On My Parade (3:00) Funny Girl 4 Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist (2:28) Avenue Q 5 Purring Machine (2:20) Isabella Wong/Erana Clark 6 I'm Your Man (3:00) Michael Buble 7 Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (3:32) Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons 8 Lying There (4:00) Edges - A Song Cycle 9 Take Me Or Leave Me (3:44) Rent 10 Don’t Do Sadness (1:20) Spring Awakening 11 Taking Chances (3:45) Platinum Weird 12 You Are The Only Exception (2:38) Paramore 13 Love You I Do Dreamgirls 14 Your Song (0.50) Moulin Rouge 15 Come What May (4:50) Moulin Rouge I am currently rewriting the script to include more new content and also new guest appearance parts. At this stage the show will have a full 4 piece live band which means the cost is relatively high to run. I am running this as a profit share but please be mindful that there is no guarantee that we will be making a lot of money. So I am seeking actors/singers who are truly wanting to do this out of love of theatre and just being part of the Sydney Fringe. I have done this last year and it is truly a great experience so I would love to share this experience with you if you are the right person. I am looking for the following criteria: 1) easy to work with (no diva please) 2) A good actor with a good sense of humour you will need to demonstrate this at the audition 3) A good singer (not too much of a musical theatre voice please. I am looking for a more contemporary rock voice preferably tenor range) 4) if you can dance or move well that will be a bonus. If you cant its not a deal breaker.
