ABOUT THE SHOW

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is the first musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Based on the Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colours, Joseph is the favourite son of Jacob, but his siblings resent the attention Jacob showers upon him. Joseph's brothers sell him into slavery, and eventually the favoured son finds himself in jail. However, his interpretation of the dreams of the Pharaoh win him the admiration of the all-powerful leader, and soon Joseph is one of the most powerful men in Egypt. A happy ending ensues – with Joseph finally being reunited with his family. T

AUDITION BOOKINGS

To book your audition, please email Rebecca Mann at beccamann@hotmail.com with your name, email address and a contact phone number, as well as the roles you wish to audition for and your preferred audition day. We will then send you the required music and confirm your audition time.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

All auditionees will be booked into half hour timeslots with other auditionees. We recommend that all auditionees sing a song from the show (suggested list attached). If you choose to sing a song which is not from the show, we would advise that it be of a similar style, and you must bring a clear copy of the music. We will be unable to play backing tracks. A simple group movement audition will be incorporated into your audition time slot – which every auditionee must participate in. Please bring with you a photograph (that will not be returned to you) and bio.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals will commence on Monday the 18th of October for the principal cast, and Monday the 25th of October for all other adult cast. Rehearsal times will be:

Monday 7pm – 10pm (Adult Cast)

Wednesday 7pm - 10pm (Adult Cast)

Saturday 1pm - 4pm (Children’s Choirs)

A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed – it is possible that all cast will not be required for all rehearsals. The rehearsal venue will be confirmed ASAP. It will be in the Parramatta / Hills district. Rehearsals will take a break for Christmas and New Years following the rehearsal on Monday the 20th of December 2010, and will recommence on Monday the 3rd of January, 2011.

ROLES

Joseph is a huge show with a main ensemble cast of about 40 and a children’s chorus of 50 children (between the ages of 10 and 15). The main ensemble is primarily a combination of character singers adn dancers. We are primarily looking for an adult cast of people who appear between the ages of 17 and 35, however, a couple of older roles are also required. We also require understudies for all major roles from the members of the ensemble.

The role of Jacob will be played by Barry Crocker. We will not be auditioning this role. Jacob will also be singing the song Those Canaan Days in this production.

The role of The Pharaoh will be played by a performer to be announced soon. We will not be auditioning this role.

Please note that we may also be pre-casting the role of either Joseph or The Narrator. If this occurs, we will send out a notification to auditionees. Should either role be pre-cast, we will still be auditioning for understudies for both Joseph and The Narrator.
